When was the last time you recall a Suzuki superbike being officially launched in Malaysia? I can’t, so after being absent for a really long time, Suzuki Assemblers Malaysia have finally joined the current big bike craze with the launch of four models for the Malaysian market. Yes, FOUR superbike models in one go!
“We have been contemplating entering this growing market for the last few years and finally now we are able to make the official launch of Suzuki big bikes into the Malaysia market with the strong support from the importer, DRB-HICOM Auto Solutions Sdn Bhd,” said Suzuki Assemblers Malaysia MD, Toru Kobayashi.
“The big bike market in Malaysia has been growing lately due to factors such as the country’s brisk economy, changing lifestyle, well developed highway system and low fuel price. As far as the category of 251cc and above is concerned, the total industry’s registration for the year 2013 was 13,912 units, a 50% growth over the previous year.”
He went on to say that the four models launched, Hayabusa GSX1300RA, GSX1250FA, GSX-R1000 and the V-Strom 1000 is just the start as they will be adding more models over time with a 750cc model already planned to be released at the end of the year.
“We also have plans to introduce the 650cc models in early quarter of 2015. All these models combined, our target is to deliver a total of 300 units of big bikes in the 12-month period from now.”
Suzuki has appointed 10 authorised dealers across the country to cater to the sales and after-sales service of these big bike models, assuring a plentiful supply of genuine spare parts and accessories for the maintenance and customisation of these motorcycle models, as detailed below.
SUZUKI HAYABUSA GSX1300RA
Over a decade ago, Suzuki developed a machine so unique that it instantly attracted a devoted following around the world. Named after the Japanese peregrine falcon, the iconic Hayabusa is famed for incredible agility and performance that delivers a fun and sporty ride at any speed. Defined as the “Ultimate Sports Bike” for its sensational power, speed and smooth ride, the Hayabusa has an overwhelming presence with its radically original yet timeless styling.
The 2014 model comes equipped with Brembo Monobloc high-performance calipers and an Antilock Brake System. These improved features are sure to appeal to lone riders cruising the highway as well as touring couples. The Hayabusa GSX1300R is priced at RM99,000 (basic sales price excluding insurance, road tax, registration fee, etc). Colours available are Blue / White, Gray / Black and Red / White.
GSX1250FA
Boldly styled and impressively powerful, the GSX1250FA is prepared to provide excitement whether you’re out touring, commuting or if you’re simply out having some fun. The GSX1250FA, with its sportbike DNA, is a machine that can define a weekend, but can also be relied on every day of the week. The fully faired GSX1250FA has a fuel injected double overhead camshaft (DOHC) powerplant packing 1255cc of power at your service.
Delivering a wide spread of power, starting low down in the rev range, the six gear transmission takes full advantage of this torque, resulting in extra smooth acceleration and inspiring power delivery, which is a perfect combination for long distance rides. The GSX1250FA is exciting, stimulating and tailored for sporting comfort. It is priced at RM72,900 (basic sales price excluding insurance, road tax, registration fee, etc). Colours available are Black, White and Gray.
GSX-R1000
Since 1985, the GSX-R1000 has been continuously refined to deliver new levels of performance and agility. The 2014 Suzuki GSX-R1000 model proves once again to be a motorcycle with amazing throttle response, power, and acceleration at mid range engine speeds – all with great fuel economy. The bike manoeuvres like a dream with a solid chassis design and responsive suspension, while delivering outstanding braking capabilities with its Brembo calipers and heat-resistant stainless steel brake discs.
Simply put, the GSX-R1000 offers outstanding engine performance from idle to redline, smooth suspension performance, responsive handling, and superior braking. V-STROM 1000
When size, weight, power, and manoeuvrability come into balance, you find yourself in a zone where time just disappears with the all-new V-Strom 1000 ABS Adventure. It was designed to conquer city traffic as easily you would scale mountains roads.
The all-new 2014 V-Strom 1000 ABS Adventure was redesigned from the ground up and it has many improvements over the previous model.
One of the newest changes or additions is Suzuki’s first Traction Control System on a motorcycle which the V-Strom proudly carries. Other features that were improved or redesigned are the engine, fuel injectors, magneto, idle speed control, radiator, clutch, transmission, exhaust, and suspension systems.
