Tesla’s Model 3 Production on schedule

Tesla Model 3

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, has tweeted that he expects that production will begin as scheduled this week for the Model 3. The Model 3 has been the lower cost car which Tesla is pushing out and has garnered over 300,000 bookings for the model.

He was excited when the Tesla Model 3 had passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule. This meant that production can begin according to schedule. Number of vehicles in production should grow exponentially according to Musk with August hitting a hundred cars followed by 1,500 cars in September.

Elon Musk also mentioned on Twitter that he intends to hold a handover party for the first 30 customers at the end of the month. His target is to be able to ramp up production to reach 20,000 cars per month by the end of the year. So far at the moment, we have no information on who would be the first 30 customers. It could also be internal staff who purchased it to review the car and check to see if there are any kinks or issues with the car.

The Tesla Model 3 starts from USD$35,000, has a range of 346km on a single charge, seats 5 adults and reaches from 0-100 in under 6 seconds. Customers just need to pay USD$1,000 to reserve a Model 3 on Tesla’s website. To date, this would be Tesla’s cheapest car in their entire range. Customers on the West Coast of America would get their Tesla first followed by the East Coast. After the US, Europe, APAC and right-hand drive markets are next.
