Uber Elevate‘s Director of Engineering, Mark Moore was sharing his vision for personal air transportation at a recent sustainability mobility conference in Canada. Dubbed as the Uber Air service, Moore shared how electric VTOL aircraft is the future and going to transform how people travel.

Imagine quiet electric aircraft, not helicopters, would transport people at short trips in short times.

During the conference, there was a panel speaking on the subject further, a discussion on Elon Musk’s The Boring Company came up. The Boring Company’s aim is to dig tunnels to move cars about in cities where there are traffic jams all over. Moore went on to say that he would love to challenge Musk via a debate on airborne vs subterranean mobility.

Everyone knows that tunnellings biggest issue is cost as it is extremely costly to dig through the earth.

Moore did go on to say that Musk was a hero of his and has huge respect for the man who created Tesla and SpaceX.

Uber plans to test their VTOL mobility system in 2020 and have targeted for commercial implementation by 2023.
