When Audi came out with the R8, they probably must have spent a lot getting it up because they are really milking it for what it’s worth. After sticking with the same formula, Audi has unveiled the “Audi Sport” edition of the R8 at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Sporting a silver, red and black design, this car is built in a limited run of only 200 units and will be available in May 2017 onwards.
“In 2016, we had the most successful year in the history of Audi Sport customer racing, our customer sport department,” said Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Audi Sport GmbH. “With the R8 LMS we brought home 24 titles, scored 85 race victories and tallied up over 100 other podium finishes.”
You get to choose whether you want the car to be in floret silver, matt or gloss, mythos black and ibis white. Regardless of what body colour you choose, the sideblades and exterior mirrors will always come in brilliant red. The front spoiler, Singleframe grille and diffuser insert, all in titanium black and at the rear, trapezoidal tailpipe trims will always be in gloss black. Some of the unique highlight features for this car.
The R8 special edition will be offered with 20-inch wheels of forged aluminium, with 245/30 front tires and 305/30 rear tires. The rims sport a 10-spoke Y design feature and is painted in a gloss anthracite black paint finish with silver edges. On the R8 V10 version, the callipers are painted in a high-gloss red finish. On the inside, the illuminated door sill trims are paired with aluminium trims. The door trims and sport seats are wrapped in fine Nappa leather, with a color combination of black and express red.
