Honda is gradually rolling out the fifth-generation CR-V globally, with Thailand set to be its latest market.
Prior to the SUV’s debut, the company has released several teaser images of the new model, thus confirming some of the earlier speculations.
For starters, these teaser images posted on the headlightmag forums does confirm that the Thai-spec 2017 Honda CR-V will be the first model globally to receive the seven seater set up. This will allow the CR-V to compete against the current Nissan X-Trail and upcoming Mazda CX-5, with the latter expected to offer a seven seater option. From the teaser image, it appears that even with the third row seats up, rear boot space still looks rather spacious.
Next up is the exterior details of the new CR-V. These bunch of images does confirm that at least one variant of the upcoming Honda CR-V will receive LED-illuminated headlights and tail lights, much like the range-topping Civic 1.5 TC Premium and City 1.5 V here. The CR-V in the images did sport a shade of green, possibly Dark Olive Metallic.
Last but not least is the powertrain. We did mention earlier that the new CR-V will not be receiving the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo, but instead a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel. This diesel engine will be mated to the company’s nine-speed automatic transmission. Drive is expected to be sent to all four wheels or the front wheels, depending on specifications.
