Spied! 2017 Honda CR-V caught in Thailand!

Honda may be preparing to debut the 2017 CR-V in China, but thanks to these spy photos, it is clear that for the Asean region, Thailand is set to receive the fifth-generation Honda CR-V first.

These spy photos were posted on Thai automotive website Headlightmag, indicating that Honda Thailand has already completed the tooling part of the new CR-V and is currently road testing the new model.

Engine wise, the Thai model could very well receive the same powerplants as the North American model, which includes both a 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated i-VTEC mill and the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo that’s shared with the tenth-generation Civic. In the case of the Honda CR-V, the turbocharged engine does 190 hp and 220 Nm that sends drive to all four wheels via Honda’s G Shift CVT.

In terms of equipment, we can expect the 2017 Honda CR-V to receive similar kit as the Civic Turbo, including the new 7-inch Display Audio infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, digital meter cluster and LED headlights. For China, the Honda could be offering a seven-seater variant alongside the five-seater variant, though it is unknown if the Thai market will receive the same.

When will the Honda CR-V arrive here? Looking at Honda’s last big launch, the Civic Turbo took half a year to arrive from Thailand to Malaysia, it is safe assume that we can expect the CR-V here towards the second half of the year.
