Updated 2017 Honda Fit/Jazz expected to arrive in July?

Now in its third generation, the Honda Fit (Jazz in our market) has seen a decline in sales back home in Japan. Honda is expected to remedy that with a facelift.

Sales of the Honda Fit isn’t up to Honda’s expectation due to the recalls circled around the Fit Hybrid’s dual-clutch system. Subsequently, non-hybrid models also gained a bad reputation because of the hybrid’s dual-clutch system, which further hurt sales.

Come July, Honda is expected to debut an updated Honda Fit. The hybrid variant is expected to receive an update twin clutch set up. Other changes include a heavily revised front end with Honda’s new corporate look. On the safety front, the updated Honda Fit will also come with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) as part of the Honda Sensing package.

Elsewhere, we also understood that Honda could fit in the company’s 1.0-litre VTEC turbo into the Fit, thus creating a warm hatch that will likely pump out 129 PS and a healthy 200 Nm. The hybrid version could also see a bump in fuel economy, jumping to 37 km/L from the previous 36.4 km/L.

Closer to home, Honda Malaysia has already teased their upcoming powertrain, which mentions the i-DCD Sport Hybrid System. We believe that Honda Malaysia will introduce the Jazz Hybrid alongside the facelifted Jazz towards the second half of the year.
