Honda Malaysia has previewed the upcoming Honda City facelift, which will be making a local debut some time next month.
Malaysia is the third country after Thailand and India to receive the updated Honda City.
Powertrain remains unchanged, with a sole 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine sending drive to the front wheels via Honda’s Earth Dreams CVT automatic. Power output remains identical at 120 PS and 145 Nm.
In terms of outlooks, all models of the the updated Honda City will receive new dual-tone alloy wheels. On the range-topping V variant, LED headlights with LED DRLs plus LED front fog lights replace the old halogen units. The LED trend continues to the rear, with LED-illuminated tail lights and a small bootlid spoiler completing the looks. A reverse camera is now available on the City as well.
Visual updates aside, Honda Malaysia has also given the City facelift better safety equipment, as all variants of the City now get Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Hill Start Assist (HSA), which was previously absent on the S and S+ variants. All models continue with two airbags up front, with the range-topping V variant adding another 4 airbags bringing the total amount to six. Elsewhere, Honda’s 2017 City will come standard with keyless entry and push start button on all variants.
Seeing that Honda Malaysia has improved the specifications of the City, they did mention that the number of variants will be trimmed down to just three, with the S and S+ variant combined. Prices will be announced when the car debuts in March.
