Honda’s fifth-generation CR-V was introduced in late 2016, offering buyers new looks coupled with the same downsized turbocharged engine that powers the Civic.
The 2017 Honda CR-V was subsequently spied in China, where it was said that the new SUV could be launched in China in April. Closer to home, Autonetmagz reported that Honda Prospect Motor is getting ready to assemble the new model at its Kerawang plant.
If all goes according to schedule, the Indonesians can expect to catch the new Honda CR-V in showrooms from the second quarter of this year, with the identical 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo mill powering the CR-V mated to Honda’s tried-and-tested Earth Dreams CVT.
On top of the new powertrain, the 2017 Honda CR-V is expected to be offered with three-row seating, allowing the new SUV from Honda to compete against the Nissan X-Trail. Other key highlights include Honda Sensing, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring, though it is currently unknown if these features will be available on the Indonesian model.
As for us, it is very likely that Honda Malaysia will debut the 2017 CR-V some time this year, but that will come after Thailand and Indonesia’s local introduction.
