The updated Nissan X-Trail lands in China after going official in North America in 2016. The Nissan X-Trail is known as the Nissan Rogue over there.

Mimicking the North American model, the Chinese will receive the same updated design with Nissan’s V-Motion grille up front paired by a pair of redesigned headlights with LED daytime running lights. Bumper design is also fresh, with a large chrome piece below the license plate.

The rear end of the Chinese model is also similar to its American sibling, featuring a similar rear light cluster design with a revised rear bumper design. Unlike what the Americans get, the Chinese market will receive a rear fog light, something that has been recently added to the Nissan X-Trail locally.

Power is derived from the same choice of engines, which includes a 2.0- and 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired to a six-speed manual or CVT. For the China market, the 2.5-litre engine is mated exclusively to the CVT and drives all four wheels. Back home, Edaran Tan Chong Motors offers two engine choices, a 2.0-litre and a 2.5-litre engine, with the former driving both front wheels while the latter drives all four wheels. Both Nissan X-Trail variants are mated to Nissan’s Xtronic CVT.

Seeing to as how Nissan is rolling out the updated X-Trail globally, we reckon it is only a matter of time before the new model arrives here. The Chinese are expected to see a local debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, arriving in showrooms towards the second half of the year.
