The updated de-facto B-segment sedan from Honda has gone official in Thailand, featuring various improvements throughout the vehicle.
Thanks to earlier scoops which unmasked the City prior to its debut, the City now receives a front fascia that is inspired by its bigger sibling, the Civic. The range-topping variant of the City should receive LED headlights, while LED daytime running lights are standard across the range. Towards the bottom, the lower air dam has been enlarged, though the fog light surrounds are now smaller than before.
As for the rear end, it appears that the LED-illuminated tail lights that was spied earlier are destined for other markets, with our ASEAN region models receiving identical bulb-type tail lights as before. Bumper design is new, with a black centre diffuser flanked by a pair of reflectors.
Changes inside are less pronounced, but the 2017 City gets a new gun-metallic trim and new leather upholstery for the seats. For the Thai market, the highest specification City also receives a new infotainment system with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
Unlike the Toyota Vios’s change in powertrain, the updated Honda City will receive the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine for our market. Up north, the Thais will receive an E85-compatible 1.5-litre engine that does 117 hp and 146 Nm. Both a five-speed manual and CVT is offered in Thailand, with the latter being the sole option offered here. Additionally, the range-topping City, when equipped with CVT, can be had with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters in Thailand.
