Mention the ‘UK supercars ‘and no doubt established sportscar makers like Aston Martin, Lotus, and McLaren would come to mind. However, here’s one from Arash, a little known UK-based company which recently unveiled their latest creation, the AF8.
Smaller scale supercar makers like Arash are usually at a disadvantage as they do not have the funds like Ferrari to develop cars with the latest tech. That explains the AF8 being built with simplicity in mind. The AF8 is powered by the tried-and-tested 7.0-litre LS7 Chevrolet V8 engine, and mated with a conventional six-speed manual transmission. However, coupled with a carbon fiber intake system and upgraded exhaust system, this V8 to produces 550bhp and 640Nm. A conventional suspension system was used as well, with double-wishbones all round and oil-filled dampers, and a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering set-up, the column of which benefits from adjustable rake and reach.
Thanks to the tubular steel chassis and carbon fibre body, this car is light at 1200 kg. This translates to a brilliant 0-100km/h figure of 3.5 seconds, with top-speed claims of 320km/h. With the asking price of ‘only’ £165,000 which doesn’t seem much, Arash really needs to convince buyers since that kind of money can get you a decent 911 Turbo S or Audi R8 in the UK. The AF8 will make its official debut in the Geneva Motor Show today.
