Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor for Peugeot vehicles in Malaysia has just launched not one, but two new additions to its current line-up. Besides the new 2008 Puretech SUV, Nasim also took the opportunity to take the wraps-off the new hot little 208 Puretech hatchback.
What really set this 208 apart from its predecessors is their award-winning engine. Winner of the 2015 and 2016 ‘International Engine of the Year’ award presented by the British magazine ‘Engine Technology International,’ Peugeot Puretech is an advanced petrol technology that offers a drive and performance normally associated with much bigger engines but with significantly improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The 1.2-litre PureTech turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine produces 112 PS and 205 Nm of torque, matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Quickshift technology. The new Puretech engine on a combined cycle is rated at 4.2 litres per 100 km for a best in class fuel-efficiency. It also comes with Stop Start technology to ensure optimal control over fuel consumption and CO2 emission as it deactivates the engine when speed is below 20kph and restarts when the accelerator is pressed.

The compact sport leather steering wheel offers precise steering and improved maneuverability while the large 7-inch HD multifunction colour touchscreen puts all the functionality at your fingertips. In terms of safety, the 208 Puretech has achieved 5 star ratings from Euro NCAP for maximum safety at every level to their driver and passengers thanks to their 6 airbags and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) featuring Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). Other safety features include very high strength steel grade body construction, Hill Start Assist, three sets of ISOFIX points at the rear for child seats, pretensioner safety belt with load limiter and seatbelt alarm audio, advanced electric power steering and Peugeot Rolling Code Transponder immobilizer security.
