UMW Toyota Motor has announced that the 2017 Fortuner will see a reduction in price with effect from 9 January 2017 thanks to the new SUV being qualified as an EEV.
The Toyota Fortuner will see a reduction of up to RM16,000 depending on variant. Here’s the updated price:
Toyota Fortuner 2.7 SRZ 4×4 | RM 183,800 |
Toyota Fortuner 2.4 VRZ 4×4 | RM 175,400 |
Both prices are On The Road (OTR) with insurance. The entry-level Fortuner 2.4 VRZ sees a price reduction of RM11,500 from RM186,900 whilst the range-topping Fortuner 2.7 SRZ gets a RM16,100 cut in price from the original RM199,900.
To recap, UMW Toyota Motor is offering two variants of the new Fortuner, a 2.7-litre petrol engine and a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine on the base model. Both engines have been tuned to deliver better fuel efficiency and coupled with the 6-speed electronically-managed automatic transmission, gear shifts are also fuel efficiency-optimized.
“We are grateful to the Malaysian Government for recognising the Toyota Fortuner as an EEV. Since the announcement of the current National Automotive Policy in January 2014, UMW Toyota Motor has strived to support the policy and assembling EEVs demonstrates our commitment. UMW Toyota Motor is working closely with Toyota Motor Corporation to identify future models which can be assembled locally and meet the EEV criteria,” said Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor.
