UMW Toyota Motor opened the bookings for the facelifted Toyota Corolla Altis about a month ago, with enhanced features over the pre-facelift model.

Up front, the new Corolla Altis receives a revised front fascia with LED headlights and LED DRLs, which are available for all variants. This particular variant, the range-topping 2.0V comes fully-equipped with all the bells and whistles, including an optional five piece aerokit. Rim size for the 2.0V remains 17-inch, wrapped with 215/45R17 Michelin PS3 all round, but with a new alloy wheel design.

Towards the rear end, changes aren’t as drastic as the front. The tail lights feature a new design, though shape remains identical. The chrome bar that connects the tail lights is now slimmer than the outgoing model. The optional aerokit adds a diffuser-like bottom piece that gives the Corolla Altis a sportier appeal.

As for the cabin, the facelifted Corolla Altis is largely identical as the older model, but the driver and passenger side air-conditioning vents are now circular. Toyota has also revised the Corolla Altis’ air-conditioning controls, effectively removing the temperature knob. Sport mode is now available on all variants of the facelifted Corolla Altis as well.

Powering the Corolla Altis is the identical 2.0-litre 3ZR-FE Dual-VVTi four-cylinder petrol engine hooked up to a CVT that drives the front wheels. Power output remains at 145 PS and 187 Nm. As before, the range-topping variant gets steering-mounted paddle shifters, on top of the manual mode on the gear shifter itself.

Perhaps the biggest change is the safety kit. UMW Toyota Motor has seen fit to equip the Corolla Altis with 7 airbags, including a driver knee airbag, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control (TRC), all around parking sensors, seat belt reminder for front passenger and driver and ISOFIX child seat anchor points for all variants. In the past, the 7 airbags was part of the “Additional Safety Package”, a RM3,900 option.

Prices start from RM120,900 for the base Corolla Altis 1.8E, moving up to RM123,900 for the 1.8G. The range-topping 2.0V will set buyers back for RM138,900. UMW Toyota Motor is offering a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty for the Corolla Altis, which is transferable to the next owner when the car is sold.
