Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd, better known as Modenas just launched the all-new Karisma 125 and Elegan 250. Edaran Modenas (EMOS), a subsidiary of Modenas launched the Kymco Downtown 250i.
The original Modenas Karisma was first introduced in 2003 and successfully captured 26% of the scooter market with 16,000 units sold. The updated Karisma 125 is powered by a 125 cc engine that outputs 7 kW at 7,500 rpm. In terms of convenience, the Karisma 125 is equipped with a single USB port for charging, a multi-purpose key control system and a spacious under seat compartment. Modenas says that the Karisma is available in Bright Red and Pearly White. Priced at RM4,980, the Modenas Karisma 125 is the cheapest of the trio.
Introduced in 2004 with a 150 cc engine, the Modenas Elegan has came a long way. Now, the Elegan 250 is powered by a 250 cc fuel injected engine with SOHC that does 16.5 kW at 7,000 rpm. The Elegan 250 comed fitted with telescopic fork for the front suspension and trailing swing arm for the rear suspension, aimed to provide riders with a more comfortable ride. For better braking performance, the Elegan 250 comes with all round disc brakes. Available in Matt Black and Matt White, the Elegan 250 has a retail price of RM12,830.
Last but not least is the Kymco Downtown 250, the first model launched to debut after the successful partnership between Modenas and Kymco. All 22.6 hp comes from a liquid-cooled four-stroke 250 cc single-cylinder OHC engine equipped with electronic fuel injection. Drive goes to the rear wheel via a CVT. Like the Elegan 250, the Downtown 250 gets telescopic forks for the front, while the rear gets a double swing with a five-step pre-load adjustment. Disc brakes are fitted all round with ABS for improved safety. Priced at RM22,790, the Kymco Downtown 250 can be bought at EMOS’ 30 authorized dealers nationwide.
