As a run up to the 2016 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix scheduled at the Sepang International Circuit this week from 28 to 30 October, Next Bike Sdn. Bhd., the sole importer and distributor of Ducati motorcycles in Malaysia, has launched not one but five new Ducati 2016 models to the local market namely, the Ducati Superbike 959 Panigale, Ducati Hypermotard 939, Ducati Monster 1200 R, Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro and the Ducati XDiavel.
According to Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Group Executive Chairman, NAZA World Group of Companies, “Although skeptics might say that the current automotive market is facing a slow down in sales, Next Bike believes a brand as premium as Ducati will always have a steady following. Launching five new models concurrently is proof that Next Bike is adamant in ensuring the ownership experience for any Ducati owner will be as superior as the brand suggests.”
Ducati Superbike 959 Panigale
This year, Ducati’s 959 Panigale became a larger capacity, even more versatile “Supermid” model. The Ducati Superbike 959 Panigale shares the same innovative stylistic features that characterise its ‘bigger brother’, the 1299 Panigale – but with an engine designed for a more enjoyable everyday riding experience and more thrills on the race track. The new 955 cm3 twin-cylinder power unit, the first Superquadro to have obtained Euro 4 type-approval, comes with a new stroke length and other innovations that have given rise to an even more impressive torque curve and increased maximum power, now 157hp at 10.500 rpm. The increased torque and maximum power values do not imply shorter service intervals, therefore, valve clearance inspections are still only required every 24,000 km.
The super-smooth engine continues to be a fully stressed member of the innovative monocoque frame, achieving both an outstanding power-to-weight ratio and ride-enhancing response and agility with a dry weight of only 176 kg – while still ensuring full compliance with the structural limitations required by Euro 4 standards.
The unmistakable 1299 Panigale-derived silhouette of this bike, even with a redesigned nose fairing, headlight and tailpiece, underlines the family DNA: the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), Riding Mode technology including Ride-by-Wire, triple-stage Bosch ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC) featured by the Panigale are in line with Ducati’s very own standards of technological excellence.
Every last detail of the 959 Panigale pays tribute to Ducati’s legendary racing heritage. The wider nose fairing and screen improve aerodynamic performance and add to the aggressive look of the new front end, also enhanced by larger-section front air intakes. The split tailpiece design is the final touch to a real work of art: the 959 Panigale fairing, now including redesigned lateral air intakes and new rear view mirrors. The new bike is also equipped with aluminium billet-machined footrests for enhanced boot grip while riding.
The 959 Panigale is available in traditional Ducati red with black wheels or a stunning Arctic White Silk with contrasting red wheels. The on-the-road (OTR) retail price of the Ducati Superbike 959 Panigale without insurance with 6% GST is RM99,999.

Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro completes the multi-bike concept introduced by Ducati in 2010. Born to be unstoppable on any terrain, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro is a full-optional bike designed to satisfy even the most demanding globetrotter. Moreover, this maxi-enduro has specifically been developed and built to handle the stress and strain of off-road riding. Ducati test riders have put the Multistrada 1200 Enduro through its paces under the most extreme riding conditions to ensure reliability in any situation, while maintaining the ride quality and fun one expects from a Ducati. Thanks to spoked wheels – 19’’ at the front and 17’’ at the rear – the Multistrada 1200 Enduro is perfect for long-distance adventures. Featuring electronic semi-active Sachs suspension (front and rear) and a 30-litre fuel tank, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro is unstoppable on any terrain and has a range that can exceed 450 kilometres.
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro marks Ducati’s entry into a new market segment, that of the maxi-enduro tourers; however there’s been no compromising on Ducati style and technology. The smart, sports look has been renewed and upgraded with numerous off-road features. The electronics package is everything a rider could wish for, thanks to the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), developed by Bosch, which dynamically measures pitch and roll angles and acceleration along the 3 axes, raising performance and safety standards even further.
On the Multistrada 1200 Enduro Cornering ABS, Cornering Lights (DCL), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and the semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution system with 200 mm of wheel travel all come as standard. Moreover, for the very first time on a Ducati, Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) has been introduced to aid uphill starts.
Tested and developed under the most extreme conditions, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro features the excellent, hard-wearing Multistrada 1200 frame together with a new twin-sided swingarm. The bike is powered by the tried and tested 160 hp Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine with EURO 4 type approval, now equipped with a new exhaust system. Thanks to Riding Mode technology (Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban), the Multistrada 1200 Enduro offers that same four- bikes in-one spirit that has made the Ducati multibike such a winner.
Other as-standard features on the Multistrada 1200 Enduro include electronic speed control and the Bluetooth module; the latter, via the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), lets riders connect the bike to a smartphone and manage key multimedia functions (incoming calls, text messaging, music) via the switchgear and display information on the TFT dashboard.
Furthermore, thanks to the standard Bluetooth connection on the Multistrada Enduro, the new Multistrada Link App, available for iOS and soon also for Android, allows to connect your smartphone and record data of the bike and road itineraries. Data such as speed, lean angle, power and consumption can be displayed directly on the map and riding diary, allowing you to relive all your riding emotions, turn after turn.
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro comes in three colours (Ducati Red, Phantom Grey and Star White Silk) and can be personalised with items from the comprehensive Ducati Performance accessory catalogue by Touratech which includes the four Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban packages.
The on-the-road (OTR) retail price of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro without insurance with 6% GST is RM129,999.
Ducati XDiavel
Ducati enters the Cruiser domain and does so in its own inimitable way, presenting a true Cruiser with all the design, technology and performance one expects from a Ducati thoroughbred. Called the XDiavel, it brings together two worlds: the Cruiser world – low speeds, relaxed riding, long journeys and feet forward ergonomics – and the Ducati world, characterised by Italian style, refined engineering and unparalleled performance.
The XDiavel ensures the “low speed excitement” typical of a Cruiser and the adrenaline rush of sports riding that Ducati has made its own. That’s what the X in XDiavel stands for: the merging of two apparently separate, distant worlds on one bike, a superb combination where both are accomplished without compromise.
5,000, 60, 40. Three numbers that sum up the XDiavel concept.
5,000 as in the rpm at which the twin-cylinder engine achieves maximum torque (13.1 kgm). Extremely low revs for a Ducati engine but perfect for a Cruiser. Moreover, at 2,100 rpm the XDiavel power unit already ensures a torque of over 10 kgm, with an extremely flat curve all the way to the rev-limiter. Yet the engine remains a Ducati engine through and through, with a maximum power of 156 hp and thrilling performance across the rev range.
To obtain that performance Ducati engineers pushed the Testastretta engine through its ultimate development phase to create the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262. Increased engine displacement, together with the DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) system, results in delivery of full yet fluid torque at low revs, but ensures sports bike performance when the throttle is twisted wide open. Moreover, the design work on the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 has been meticulous: for example, relocation of the water pump inside the intra-cylinder V means the cooling system pipes are no longer visible on the left.
60, as in the number of different ergonomic configurations for the rider. The XDiavel provides vast scope for personalisation thanks to 4 different footrest positions, 5 different seats and three different handlebars. Furthermore the passenger has the option to choose between a regular seat and a comfort seat with backrest, both as standard equipment. All this, then, because comfortable riding means full “low speed excitement”.
Lastly, 40, as in the maximum attainable lean angle. The XDiavel is a Ducati and as such ensures dynamic performance and the thrill of a sports bike, but only when you really want to push it to the limit. Frame, suspension, brakes and the chassis set-up have been designed to maximise sports-style riding fun, but without compromising on the comfort and easy handling that are essential when exploring the highways at a more relaxed pace. The XDiavel is the first Ducati to use belt-type final transmission. A must within the Cruiser world, this system has been developed for the XDiavel by Ducati engineers to ensure reliable, secure transmission of the power provided by the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262. Belt drive offers the advantages of more silent running, cleanliness, reduced maintenance and the fluid throttle response one wants from a Cruiser.
Design and technology merge again on the Full LED light assemblies, which play a key role in the styling of the XDiavel. Like all latest-generation Ducati bikes the XDiavel features the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which dynamically measures pitch and roll angles plus the speed of relative variations in attitude, thus raising performance and safety standards even further. This system, together with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Riding Modes, Bosch Cornering ABS , Cruise Control and the innovative Ducati Power Launch (DPL) make the XDiavel a technological gem offering high performance and, above all, safety.
Available also as an S version, the XDiavel features a black-only colour scheme (on the S version the matt black becomes gloss). The bike also has the innovative DRL (Daytime Running Light) at the front, forks with DLC coating, Brembo M50 front brake callipers, a special seat and parts with machine-finished highlights. These include eye-catching alloy wheels and aluminium engine belt covers, given even greater allure thanks to the gloss black paintwork.
The on-the-road (OTR) retail price of the Ducati XDiavel without insurance with 6% GST is RM135,999.
