The term “simplify, then add lightness” has been emphasised well with British car manufacturer and Malaysia owned Lotus. It may sound strange for a struggling automotive company to venture into bikes, but they did, enlisting German company, Kodewa to built a series of limited edition exotic motorbikes. The result is the C-01 motorcycle, and it is best summed-up in one word: gorgeous.
The futuristic lines of the bike were made possible as the bike was crafted by Daniel Simon, the man who designed the awesome Tron light cycles in the “Tron: Legacy” movie. The bike is propelled by a modified version of KTM’s 1,195-cc V-twin engine, producing approx 200 HP. Steel, titanium and carbon fiber were used for the chassis. The bike’s wider dimensions may suggest it is not meant for track racing, but with its 200 HP engine and weighing under 180 kg, the bike is built for speed.
Perhaps the most distinctive feature is the livery, where Lotus paid tribute to its racing pedigree. Only 100 units were made, and no price has been announced. But that doesn’t matter; don’t be surprised to see all 100 units snapped up immediately. Mobile works of art we say, stunning! Well done Lotus.
