Misfortune struck 2013 MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez when the Spaniard broke his lower right leg during a dirt-track training accident on Wednesday afternoon.
“It was a really unfortunate accident that could happen to anyone at anytime,” said Marquez. “I was rushed to the hospital, and Dr. Mir treated me, thankfully there was no ligament damage and it seems like a clean break.” said Marquez.
Doctors treating Marquez confirmed there was no ligament damage or dislocation and no need to proceed with surgery. However, he would need 3-4 weeks to recover, which effectively means he won’t be traveling to Sepang for the next round of pre-testing. He is expected to fully recover for the first MotoGP race in Qatar on 23 March.
