The 2016 Proton Persona was launched as a successor to the original Proton Persona, which was launched way back in 2007. Despite being a successor to the original Persona, the 2016 model is now a B-segment sedan, leaving the Preve to be the sole C-segment sedan in Proton’s lineup. Before this, Proton had several overlapping models in the same segment, as the Proton Inspira, Proton Preve and Proton Persona together occupied the C-segment sedan category, albeit with different prices.
