2017 Nissan Rogue facelift goes official, new Hybrid variant available

Nissan USA has officially unveiled the updated 2017 Nissan Rogue. The updated Nissan Rogue line will be joined by a hybrid variant, which can be had either as a FWD or AWD. The Nissan Rogue is known as the Nissan X-Trail back home.

The updated 2017 Nissan Rogue continues to be powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with CVTC that outputs 170 hp at 6,000 rpm and 237 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Power is transferred to either the front wheels or all four wheels via an Xtronic CVT with Sport and Eco mode.

Joining the lineup is the new Nissan Rogue Hybrid. Here, the Hybrid variant is powered by a 2.0-litre aluminium alloy four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 30 kW electric motor. The Rogue Hybrid boasts a Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch Control that drives the front wheels or all four wheels (depending on variant). The petrol engine is capable of producing 141 horsepower and 195 Nm, while the 30 kW electric motor is rated at 30 horsepower and 159 Nm. The hybrid system net power is 176 horsepower.

Nissan has fitted a compact Lithium-ion battery under the rear cargo area, which allows the Rogue Hybrid to maintain its flat floor which eases rear passengers to enter the rear seat. Rear boot space has been slightly reduced.

The 2017 update has given the Nissan Rogue an updated exterior. Up front, the Nissan Rogue includes an updated front fascia with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs), revised Nissan V-Motion grille and updated headlights with LED signature daytime running lights. Towards the rear, the facelifted Nissan Rogue gets a revised rear bumper plus rear combination lamps with LED boomerang signature taillights. In addition to the update front and rear end, the 2017 Nissan Rogue also gets new chrome-trim side door moldings. The Nissan Rogue SL also receives new 19-inch alloy wheels.

The Nissan Rogue also gets updated inside, with a new flat-bottomed steering wheel, on top of the leather-booted sport-mode shifter, optional heated steering wheel, memory for driver’s seats and mirror, and remote engine start. In addition to that, the facelifted Nissan Rogue also gets new door and instrument panel finishing, new shift knob design, revised center console and console lid and new seat fabric. The Nissan Rogue SL also gets a special Platinum Reserve Interior Package highlighted by premium tan leather-appointed seats with special quilted leather inserts.

For the North American market, the Nissan Rogue can be had with a standard 2 row 5 passenger seating or an optional 3 row 7 passenger seating. The Nissan Rogue Hybrid is only available as a 2 row 5 passenger layout. Nissan USA is offering the 2017 Nissan Rogue with three interior colours, namely Charcoal and Almond, along with the special Premium Tan with the Platinum Reserve Interior Package.

The 2017 Nissan Rogue comes in three variants – S, SV and SL, each in a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The Nissan Rogue Hybrid is offered in two grade levels – SV and SL, in FWD or AWD (available later). The 2017 Nissan Rogue is assembled in Smyrna, Tennessee, Kyushu, Japan and Busan, Korea.
