The National Automotive Policy 2014 (NAP 2014) redirected the Malaysian automotive industry, taking the nation into the modern era of Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs).

By 2020, it is projected that some 85% of vehicles produced in the country will be energy efficient vehicles (EEVs), making Malaysia the regional hub for EEVs in ASEAN.
