Set to debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show at the end of this month, Hyundai has pulled the wraps off the all-new 2017 Hyundai i30.
The all-new model features a new ‘Cascading Grille’ flanked by a pair of three-projector full LED headlights with vertical LED daytime running lights. The front foglights of the new i30 are now integrated into the air curtains. According to Hyundai, the new i30 features a Coefficient of Drag of only 0.30, making it a rather slippery car. Furthermore, the i30 boasts an Active Air Flap up front to optimize air flow.
In terms of wheels, the all-new Hyundai i30 is available with 17-inch two tone 10-spoke alloy wheels, 16-inch two-tone 10-spoke alloy wheels or 15-inch steel and alloy wheels. Depending on market, the new Hyundai i30 can be had in 12 different colours, which includes Stargazing Blue, Micron Gray, Phantom Black; and seven metallic choices: Demitasse Brown, Intense Copper, Moon Rock, Fiery Red, Platinum Sliver, Ara Blue and White Sand plus two solid choices: Engine Red and Polar White.
Inside, the Hyundai i30 can be optioned with an eight-inch navigation touch screen on the dashboard integrates all navigation, media and connectivity features. In addition to that, the new infotainment system is both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible, on top of featuring a Qi wireless charging pad for compatible devices.
Hyundai is also offering a wide range of engines for the all-new i30, including a new 1.4-litre T-GDI turbocharged four cylinder engine with 140 PS and 242 Nm, a 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged three cylinder engine with 120 PS and 170 Nm or the 1.4-litre MPI four cylinder with 100 PS and 134 Nm and one diesel engine: the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, available with three power outputs: 95, 110 and 133 PS. The engines can be had with a six-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT.
On the handling front, Hyundai is keen to point out that the i30 was developed and tested in Europe, undergoing vigorous testing at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife. The Hyundai i30 was also subject to public-road testing throughout Europe, including cold weather testing in Sweden, trailer testing in the Alps and hot weather testing in the south of Spain.
Furthermore, the Hyundai i30, according to Hyundai, features the latest in active safety, namely Autonomous Emergency Braking with Front Collision Warning System, Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping Assist System, Speed Limit Information Function and High Beam Assist. New to Hyundai the Driver Attention Alert, which analyses various vehicle signals such as steering angle, steering torque, vehicle’s position in the lane and driving time to detect reckless or fatigued driving in order to prevent accidents from happening.
