Two days ahead of the 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), Isuzu has pulled the wraps off the facelifted MU-X in Indonesia. Similar to Malaysia, the MU-X challenges the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
Whilst folks in Thailand get to enjoy the new 1.9-litre turbodiesel, those in Indonesia have to choice but to continue on with the older 2.5-litre 4JK1-TC four-cylinder turbodiesel. Like before, a five-speed automatic takes care of shifting duties.
Visually, the facelift brings along an updated front fascia, with more black highlights on the front bumper. The LED DRLs are present as before, though the facelift model now gets slimmer units. Apart from that, the chrome grille on the pre-facelift model makes way for a more stealthy black unit, with a large red ISUZU emblem right smack in the centre. It appears that Isuzu has designed a lower skirt up front as well.
Moving inside, the updated Isuzu MU-X now gets a new beige interior. giving the impression of a more spacious cabin. Elsewhere, the meter cluster design has been updated with new graphics and now gets a new Multi Info Display (MID). Furthermore, Hill Hold Assist is now standard. Also new is the eight-inch infotainment system with Airplay compatibility with GPS navigation.
For the Indonesian customers, Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia has introduced a new variant of the MU-X, called the Premiere. This variant gets Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), around view camera, front grille with carbon fibre graphics plus extra storage space in the boot. The rest of the equipment is identical to the regular MU-X.
Prices start from IDR 487 million (~RM 149,548) for the facelifted Isuzu MU-X. The Isuzu MU-X facelift will be on display at the 2016 GIIAS.
