Moving into 2014, the BMW Group has started the year strongly and in the month of January, another record-breaking sales performance was achieved at a 7.8% increase with a total of 132,892 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles delivered.
The APAC region, meanwhile, marked an all-time high sales record by delivering BMW and MINI models exceeding the 50,000 units mark in January 2014.
Closer to home, BMW Group Malaysia also mirrored the group’s dynamic performances with a total of 7,974 BMW, MINI and Motorrad vehicles delivered in 2013, charting an all-time high of 14% growth from the same period in 2012 with a total of 6,988 vehicles sold.
Dr. Gerhard Pils, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The significant milestone was achieved due to the continued and growing support of our BMW customers here in Malaysia, who has responded tremendously well to the line-up of BMW vehicles which were introduced in 2013. We are now preparing for the company’s next phase of growth as we support Malaysia towards becoming a more internationally competitive automotive industry.”
He also mentioned that BMW Group Malaysia will continue to support the Malaysian government’s effort to re-invigorate the automotive industry with its revised automotive roadmap which is in line with the BMW Group belief – that sustainable mobility is the future of the automotive industry. With its 2014 plans in place, BMW Group Malaysia is keen to work with the Malaysian government to identify further opportunities towards enhancing the Malaysian automotive industry.
This year, the company plans to introduce new models and production network which will include the introduction of the locally assembled BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo. This will be BMW’s 14th variant to be assembled in the country.
