In Taiwan, buyers can choose between three variants, namely the Q30 1.6T Luxury, 1.6T Fashion and the 2.0T Sport. As the name implies, the 1.6T models draw its power from a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that outputs 156 PS at 5,300 rpm and 250 Nm from 1,250 to 4,000 rpm. The seven-speed dual clutch transmission allows the 1.6T models to hit 100 km/h in just 8.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 215 km/h.

On the other hand is the Infiniti Q30 2.0T Sport. This model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that pushes out 211 PS at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm from 1,200 to 4,000 rpm. Like the 1.6T model, a seven-speed dual clutch transmission takes care of shifting duties. The more powerful model is able to sprint from a dead stop to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds, while top speed is rated at 235 km/h.

If the figures look familiar, we don’t blame you. Much of the hardware on the Infiniti Q30 is donated from the Mercedes-Benz X156 GLA-Class, including the powertrain combo. In addition to that, the Q30 features a number of shared parts inside, including switch gear and meter clusters. One of the biggest difference between both models is the infotainment system, as the Q30 features Infiniti’s In Touch system, while the German features its own COMAND system.

Price wise, the Infiniti Q30 has a starting price of 1.39 million TWD, which translates to about RM171,000 (before taxes and import duties). The range-topping Q30 2.0T Sport will set buyers back for 1.79 million TWD, which is about RM220,000 here. Granted, an entry-level Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class costs 1.7 million TWD, while the GLA200 costs 1.98 million TWD.

Back home, the Mercedes-Benz GLA200 has a starting price of RM236,888, while the GLA250 retails for RM266,888. With such competitive prices in Taiwan, we are certainly keeping our fingers crossed for the arrival of the Infiniti Q30 here with reasonable prices.
