Try mentioning Toyota Corolla to any one around you. Chances are, most of them would know what a Corolla is. No surprises there, as the Corolla name has been around since 1966.
To honor the Corolla name, Toyota has launched a limited edition variant of the Corolla Axio, called the 50 Limited. The 50 Limited is based on the Corolla Hybrid G, though Toyota was keen to point out that there are enhancements made to the sedan. The Aichi-based firm said that the Corolla Axio 50 Limited will be capped at 500 units, with each unit retailing for 2.4 million Yen.
Outside, this limited run model gets two colour choices, namely White Pearl Crystal and Black Mica. Apart from that, this Corolla Axio gets bi-beam LED headlights, new lower grille design and 16-inch alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the 50 Limited variant gets an exclusive emblem with the Corolla’s historical mark. Yes, the “Crown of Flowers” mark that debuted on the first Corolla has made an appearance here.
Moving into the cockpit, Toyota has given the Corolla Axio 50 Limited a red leather treatment, with the new leather trim found on the seats, dashboard and door trim.
Powering the Corolla Axio 50 Limited is a 1.5-litre 1NZ-FXE hybrid powertrain that delivers 74 PS at 4,800 rpm and 111 Nm from 3,600 to 4,400 rpm. Toyota is offering a CVT as the sole transmission choice that drives the front wheels.
