Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), the authorised importer of Porsche vehicles in Malaysia, has announced that the new entry-level 2016 Porsche Macan base price starts from RM 415,000, which is RM20,000 lower than the previous estimated price. The facelifted Macan was previewed at the Sepang International Kart Circuit in May this year.
The range of equipment fitted on the entry-level Macan as standard is extensive, and includes the 7-Speed PDK, latest generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), three-zone automatic climate control, Lane Departure Warning System, Power Steering Plus, Park Assist (front and rear), Porsche Entry and Drive, Tyre Pressure Monitoring system (TPM) and Anti-theft protection (ultrasonic interior surveillance).
The LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) is available as an optional feature, which continuously adjusts the headlight level in keeping with the traffic ahead and any oncoming traffic.
Under the hood, power is supplied by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that delivers 252 hp from 5,000 to 6,800 rpm and 370 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm. With an increase of 15 horsepower and 20 Nm of torque from its predecessor, the new Macan delivers an impressive acceleration to 229 km/h, reaching 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the time is reduced to 6.5 seconds.
The in-line four-cylinder engine is designed to be particularly sporty and efficient: It operates with up to two bars of boost pressure, charge-air cooling, petrol direct injection and variable valve timing. VarioCam Plus adapts the intake and exhaust camshaft continually and also controls the lift of the exhaust valves.
As is characteristic for all Porsche models, the Macan is capable of converting its engine power into a sporty driving dynamics. This is ensured by the standard Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive system in interplay with an agile suspension and precise steering. An air suspension system with levelling control including the PASM with adaptive dampers is available as an option. With an unladen weight of 1,770 kilograms, the Macan is the lightest SUV made by Porsche, which translates into agile handling.
Inside the cabin, the 2016 Porsche Macan comes fitted with Porsche Communication Management system (PCM) that features a high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen. The redesigned user interface enables operation that is intuitive and smartphone-like. Apart from that, Bluetooth, USB and SD card interfaces make it possible to integrate smartphones and memory media. Also new is the option of connecting an iPhone via the PCM to use Apple CarPlay.
