BMW Group Malaysia today introduced the new BMW 4 Series, the premium automaker’s newest line of its premium executive coupé model range featuring the new BMW 420i Coupé, the new BMW 430i Coupé as well as the BMW 430i Gran Coupé.
The new BMW 4 Series most notable change can be found under the hood of each variant. It houses the new BMW B48 engine, an all-new aluminium inline-four cylinder engine, critical to the premium automaker’s new modular engine family. Alongside each engine is the multi-award winning BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, which teams up with an 8 eight-speed sports automatic transmission. The engines powering the new BMW 420i Coupé , the new BMW 430i Coupé as well as the new BMW 430i Gran Coupé works to deliver a significant boost in power and improved fuel efficiency, according to the automaker.
The new BMW 420i Coupé carries distinctive features that stand out from the rest with its typical BMW short overhangs, long wheelbase, and a cabin that is offset towards the rear. Apart from that, its low, flowing and elegant roofline as well as conspicuously low windows inside frameless doors and its 17-inch Star-spoke light alloy wheels, holds a distinctive and muscular road presence.
At the heart of the 420i Coupé is a 2.0-litre petrol engine that delivers 184 hp with torque peaking at 270 Nm; enabling the sports coupé to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds at a top speed of 236 km/h. Despite the impressive acceleration, average fuel economy in the EU test cycle stands at 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres and C02 emissions are just 127 grams per kilometre as compared to its predecessor which fuel consumption was at 6.0 litres per 100 kilometres and C02 emissions at 139 grams per kilometre.
The 420i Coupé cabin incorporates Dakota Leather upholstery with an interior Satin Silver Matt trim while the car’s sporting credentials are further accentuated with a sports leather steering wheel.
The Sport Line package, meanwhile, features further enhancements to its sporty interior with high-gloss black and highlight trim finishers of Coral Red matt, and sports leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, and sports seats.
The new 420i Coupé arrives with a 6.5-inch display monitor with BMW Radio Professional as well as USB and Bluetooth features. Additionally, HiFi loudspeaker system instead of the standard Stereo speakers are offered as standard feature.
The 420i Coupé comes in 4 exterior paint shades – Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Midnight Blue and Mineral Grey. Meanwhile, the shades of Melbourne Red and Glacier Silver will be available exclusively for the Sport Line package.
The new BMW 430i Coupé on the other hand, features Sport Line as standard with an optional M Sport package as an upgrade. It features 18-inch Double-spoke light-alloy wheels with Adaptive M Sport suspension while the Sport Line features 18-inch M Double-spoke light alloy wheels and the M Aerodynamics Package.
Powered by a newly developed 2.0-litre petrol engine, the Coupé produces 252 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. This translates into just 5.8 seconds in sprint time from 0 to 100 km/h at a top speed of 250 km/h. Its fuel consumption is also significantly lowered at only 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres as compared to 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres, while C02 emissions stands at 129 grams per kilometre in comparison to 149 grams per kilometre.
Inside the cabin, the 430i Coupé features Dakota Leather upholstery with high-gloss black and highlight trim finishers in Coral Red Matt, as well as sports seats and sports leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles. The 430i Coupé M Sport, meanwhile, has Aluminium Hexagon with Estoril Blue highlight trims, an M Leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, sports seats and the function of Comfort Access.
As a standard feature, the 430i Coupé comes with HiFi loudspeakers, Navigation System Professional, Intelligent Emergency Call, BMW Teleservices, Concierge Services and Remote Services.
The new BMW 430i Coupé is available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Mineral Grey while Estoril Blue, Melbourne Red and Mineral Grey are exclusively available for the new BMW 430i Coupé M Sport.
Last but not least, the BMW 430i Gran Coupé arrives with the M Sport Line as standard which features 18-inch M Double-spoke light alloy wheels, Adaptive M suspension and M Aerodynamics Package.
Under the hood of the 430i Gran Coupé is a powerful 2.0-litre petrol engine delivering a maximum output of 252 hp with torque peaking at 350 Nm and an acceleration time from 0-100 km/h of just 5.9 seconds – combined with lowered fuel consumption of 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres and lesser C02 emissions of just 138 grams per kilometre.
Also draped in Dakota Leather upholstery, the 430i Gran Coupé features interior trim finishings in Aluminium Hexagon. The car also features M Leather sports steering wheels with gearshift paddles, sports seats, Comfort Access, and an electric glass roof.
Additionally, the 430i Gran Coupé is equipped with a Harman Kardon surround sound system, Navigation System Professional, Intelligent Emergency Call, BMW Teleservices, Concierge Services and Remote Services.
Colour choices for the 430i Gran Coupé includes Alpine White, Carbon Black, Estoril Blue and Mineral Grey.
Every BMW 4 Series model variants comes with BMW 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty comprising of 5 years free scheduled service. In addition to this, the new BMW 4 Series will feature value-added services including engine oil service with oil filter and refill quantity, air filter, fuel filter, service vehicle check, micro filter, spark plugs, and brake fluid.
The new BMW 4 Series model variants will also be offered with the 24-month BMW Tyre Warranty, applicable for BMW Approved Star-Marked Tyres which are featured as a standard for all BMW cars. The tyre warranty also covers the fitment and balancing cost.
