2016 has been a very interesting year so far, as we’ve seen numerous car launches already, ranging from the Honda Civic, to the Toyota Hilux and even the high performance Porsche 911 Carrera S.
On the more affordable front, Perodua is slated to release its first-ever sedan very soon, codenamed D63D. From our friend at Automachi, the D63D is expected to be equipped with two engines, namely a 1.0-litre VVTI engine and a 1.3-litre Dual-VVTI engine, mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. Some variants of the D63D could also feature Idle Start Stop, a first for the company. Apart from that, Perodua is said to equip the D63D with ESC on selected trims, whilst aiming for a five star crash test rating from Asean NCAP.
But, what about prices? Well, Perodua has ceased production of the Myvi 1.3 Premium XS, leaving the Standard G to be the entry-level model. Furthermore, the company has also slashed prices of the 1.5 models, with the 1.5 SE now priced at RM49,568, while the 1.5 Advance priced at RM55,118, a drop of RM3,400 and RM2,850, respectively.
With that price gap, Perodua is expected to price the entry level D63D at RM38,000, while the range-topping model could cost as much as RM52,000. Both prices are tentative at this moment, as official prices have yet to be revealed.
Stay tuned, as we heard that the preview of the new sedan could happen real soon!
