The deadly Takata airbag inflator have claimed its fourth victim in Malaysia, when a 44-year old woman driver died when her Honda City’s airbag sent shrapnel during deployment.
She was driving her Honda City when her car bumped into the side of a Mercedes-Benz at the junction along Jalan Teknologi 3/6A.
“There was blood in the car when we inspected it. Medical personnel from Hospital Sungai Buloh said she was barely alive when help arrived. She died at the scene. Her three passengers were not hurt,” said Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Department Senior Officer II Rosdi Hainan.
He added that she could have been injured when the airbag sent shrapnel when it deployed. The rest of the passengers escaped unhurt from the accident, while the Honda City suffered minor damage.
Honda Malaysia has stressed that owners of affected vehicles to get their vehicle checked and parts replaced at any authorized Honda dealers as soon as possible. Owners can check via Honda Malaysia’s website here.
Don’t take this airbag recall lightly, as four drivers in Malaysia have already lost their lives. Don’t be the fifth victim.
