Yes! Let’s hope they enforce this with an iron fist. It used to be a paltry RM300 ‘saman’, but now it’s a RM2,000 fine and/or a YEAR in jail for using the emergency lane as your own personal highway.
Furthermore, the authorities have identified 91 motorists who used the emergency lane last month that blocked ambulances from getting to two bike accident victims (brothers) who later died in hospital. Sadly they may have survived if they had received medical care earlier.
The first ambulance took an hour to get to them, a journey of only 15min, because inconsiderate motorists had jammed the emergency lane.
