In a rather surprising development, Proton has previewed a semi-crossover concept version of the Proton Suprima S, dubbed the Suprima Active.
While Proton has showcased an Iriz Active concept before, this is the first time the local car company has developed a crossover version of a larger hatchback.
Outside, you’ll notice the new grey paintjob with matte grey decals running across the bonnet. Orange highlights are also used prominently on the Suprima Active, including orange side mirrors, horizontal slats across the front grille, orange surrounds on the bottom grille, an orange roof, orange inserts on the alloy wheels and orange highlights at the bottom of the doors. Inside, the concept gets contrasting leather inserts on the seats, doors and steering.
Mechanically, we were told that the Proton Suprima Active concept will utilize the company’s existing Campro Turbo mill, producing 138 hp and 205 Nm of torque. Like the regular Suprima S, the Active concept here gets a Punch CVT.
Proton has mentioned that the company is keen to gauge the public’s response to the Suprima Active concept, which can be viewed at the My Auto Fest 2016, happening from today till this Sunday at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC)!
