UMW Toyota Motor has announced that they will be conducting a special service campaign for Prius 1.8 variant sold in Malaysia concerning a certain software characteristic used to control the boost converter in the inverter assembly of the Prius. As a result, various warning lights will be illuminated and the vehicle will enter into a fail safe mode affecting motive power.

Therefore, the company is recalling Prius 1.8 variant manufactured from year 2009 – 2013 sold in Malaysia by UMW Toyota Motor to be re-programmed for both Motor Generator Control ECU and the Power Management Control ECU.

Although there have not been any reported cases in Malaysia as of today, UMW Toyota Motor will be conducting this campaign to ensure that their customers’ vehicles remain reliable and at its best performance level. There are a total of 6,160 units of Prius 1.8 variant affected and UMW Toyota Motor will contact all customers involved to carry out the necessary corrective measures at no cost.
