In conjunction with the “Hari Gawai” and the end of the first half of the school year, Perodua hosted a celebration with 44 Salvation Army children by contributing school supplies, grocery items and cash for the home’s operating expenses.
“We choose this time because it is a period of celebration for the many people of this state and we wish to make this moment a memorable one for those who needed it most,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.
A total of 44 school bags, including stationery was given to the children, sundry goods worth RM500 and a contribution of RM5, 000 were also given to the Salvation Army to assist in running its home.
The contribution has handed over by En Azharuddin Satyapal Das, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Perodua), After Sales Division Senior General Manager representing Datuk (Dr) Aminar at the event.
Major Chelvee, the superintendent of the Salvation Army received the cheque on behalf of the home.
“We honour the Salvation Army staff for their selfless devotion towards caring and educating these children from all races here in Sarawak. We hope our modest contribution will make a world of difference to all involved,” Aminar said.
Gawai Dayak, or as it is more commonly known as Dayak Festival is a celebration to mark the end of the harvesting season, which usually falls on the 1st and 2nd of June.
