Sime Darby Auto Performance has officially unveiled the facelifted 2016 Porsche Macan, with several enhancements, including an increase in power plus improved equipment.
From the outside, little has changed, though Porsche was keen to point out that the Porsche Macan can be optioned with full LED headlights with the company’s signature four-point design, similar to the ones found on the Porsche Cayenne. These headlights features the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus).
Moving inside, the updated 2016 Porsche Macan is equipped with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). The system features a 7-inch touchscreen display that has a proximity sensor that activates the screen to display the menu contents plus multi-touch capabilities. The system comes equipped with an internal hard drive (11 GB, good for about 2,640 songs) plus two SD card slots. Also new to the updated Macan is the Apply CarPlay connectivity, which is compatible with all iPhones from the iPhone 5 onwards (minimum iOS 7.1 required).
Powering the Porsche Macan is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, though Porsche says that the base Macan now gets an additional 15 horsepower and 20 Nm of torque. The Macan now gets 252 horsepower from 5,000 – 6,800 rpm and 370 Nm from 1,600 – 4,500 rpm. Power is shifted to all four wheels via Porsche’s seven-speed PDK transmission. The slight hike in power also decreased the Macan’s 0-100 times, as the Macan take just 6.7 seconds to hit the century mark, a 0.2 second improvement.
Sime Darby Auto Performance have yet to reveal the prices of the facelifted Porsche Macan. The company said that prices will be announced at a later date. The outgoing variant has a starting price of RM435,000.
