Pick-ups have been the bread and butter of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia for many years now. Since it was first launch back in 2006, the Triton has found 55,000 proud owners to date.
Now for 2015, MMM is bringing out the fifth-generation Triton, and while we anticipate its official unveiling at the end of this month, AF managed to get a sneak peek of this fifth generation model to find out what it has to offer.
With estimated price tag between RM71k to RM114k, the Mitsubishi Triton brings much to the table with a more powerful engine and additional features. It is available in various trim level namely, VGT Adventure, VGT A/T, VGT M/T, Triton M/T and Triton Quest M/T.
At the heart of the model, there’s a 2.5-litre, turbodiesel that generates 178PS and 400Nm of torque (up by +50Nm) mated to either a 5-speed automatic or manual transmission.
In base model double cab, the Triton Quest M/T 4X2 gets 15-inch alloy wheels, manual air-conditioning, audio system with AUX and USB compatibility, dual air bags, alarm system and ISOFIX as standard feature.
The VGT A/T and MT model uses 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, rear step bumper, auto climate control, touch screen audio system with Bluetooth, iPod and USB compatibility as well as keyless entry while the VGT auto will come with an additional Easy Select 4WD that allows you to shift from 2WD to 4WD at speed up 100km/h.
The range-topping VGT Adventure A/T on the other hand, comes well equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, Xenon HID headlamps with Daytime Running Lights, front fog lamps and rear step bumper. Inside, buyers will be able to find steering-wheel mounted paddle shift, dual zone climate control, 7-inch touch screen audio system with Bluetooth, iPod and USB compatibility, rear view camera, leather seats, steering wheel audio controls, hands free and voice control, and cruise control as standard feature.
However, we noticed that the power sliding rear vent window, power sunroof and the RV meter (multi-mode display of time, car status and exterior conditions) is no longer available in the 2015 model.
More details will be revealed closer to its launch date, so stay tuned for more info!
