The Perodua Alza has been given a facelift, where this compact MPV is now loaded with more equipment and now sold at a cheaper price – a move which should cement its position well in the MPV market in Malaysia. The new Perodua Alza was launched with much fanfare by Perodua Chairman, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, in a big launch event outside 1 Utama shopping center in Petaling Jaya.
To start, as per other facelifts from Perodua, the mechanical elements remain intact, so expect to see the same 3SZ-VE 1.5L DVVT engine to propel the Alza, with transmission options of either the standard 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Three variants will be made available, starting with the Standard, followed by the SE and the bells and whistles version via the Advanced Version. All variants of the new Alza are armed with dual airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist.
Among the new improvements is the safety features, where this compact MPV will see the inclusion of ISOFIX points for child safety in the second row of the car. On the 3rd row seat, Alza owners can now split it in half to allow customisation depending their needs. Meanwhile, on the Advanced Version variant,a touchscreen multimedia system will be included, which incorporates satellite navigation, Bluetooth hands-free function, and a DVD player. A reverse camera for the driver is also available for the Advanced Version variant.
These improvements alone are not the key features on the new Perodua Alza. First, there is a price reduction from 2.1% to 4.7% on the new Alza, and it is a commendable effort from Perodua, especially when price increases usually happens when car models undergo a facelift. Perodua also expanded its 3-year free service program to all its models sold this year, making it purchasing a new facelifted Alza a very much valuable purchase for a family’s needs.
Color options for the Alza including the Ivory White, Ebony Black, Glittering Silver, Mystical Purple and Passion Red. The new Alza starts at RM52,400 for the Standard manual (a reduction of RM1,117 from the outgoing Alza), followed by the SE trim manual at RM56,900 (a reduction of RM4,117 from the outgoing Alza) and the automatic only Advanced Version at RM64,000 (a reduction of RM5,117 from the outgoing Alza). An additional RM3,000 is needed for automatic variants for Standard and SE variants. With these improvements and attractive pricing which is not far off from the bestseller, the Myvi, the new Alza should be a great consideration for the majority of Malaysian families, looking for safe and affordable family ride.
