This time around, we now have more details regarding the new engines that will be powering the Toyota Avanza Veloz, thanks to Autonetzmag.net. Under the hood lies Toyota’s NR range of engines, namely the 1NR and 2NR.
The 1NR-FE will offer 99 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 132 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm. In comparison to the previous K3-VE engine, the 1NR engine makes 8 bhp more and 15 Nm more torque. The bigger 2NR-FE, on the other hand, produces 102 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 139 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The figures are identical to the previous 3SZ-VE engine. Toyota claims that fuel efficiency has been improved by 15% compared to its predecessor.
Equipment wise, all variants of the Toyota Avanza will be equipped with a single USB and AUX port, while the 1.5G and 1.5 Veloz variants will get a touchscreen head unit. Bluetooth and immobilizer are also available on all variants, except the base 1.3E.
Moving to the safety front, the new Toyota Avanza Veloz will be equipped with ABS, side impact beam, seat belt reminder, anti-trap power windows and ISOFIX mounts across the range. All variants will also be equipped with an immobilizer, except the 1.3E. Toyota says that the new Avanza Veloz is capable of scoring 4 stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash test.
Just a quick recap, Perodua is set to produce the NR family of engines at the Sendayan Tech Valley. The new engines could find their way into the upcoming Perodua D63D sedan.
