The all-new Honda BR-V made a global debut at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, before reaching showrooms in late 2015.
Thanks to one of our readers who was in Thailand, he sent in shots of this Thai-spec Honda BR-V, which made a local debut earlier in December 2015.
In Thailand, the Honda BR-V is available in two trim levels, namely SV and V. Between them they share the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC mill that pushes out 117 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 146 Nm of torque at 4,700 rpm. A G Design Shift CVT transfers all the power to the front wheels.
Curiously, the Thais will get to choose between the 5-seater Honda BR-V in V trim, or the 7-seater in SV trim. The 5-seater variant will offer more usable boot space than its 7-seater sibling. Even so, the 7-seater variant still offers impeccable practicality, a signature Honda feature.
Compared to the Indonesian Honda BR-V, those in Thailand will also miss out on the built-in Panasonic Nanoe technology, which is available on the range-topping Indonesian BR-V Prestige CVT. However, the BR-V in the SV trim does offer a push start button. Steering wheel design also seems to differ for both countries, as the Thai BR-V appears to share the steering wheel as the older Honda City/Jazz, sans the steering mounted audio controls.
In Thailand, the Honda BR-V has a starting price of 750,000 THB (RM87,155), while the range-topping variant retails for 820,000 THB (RM95,253). The entry-level Honda BR-V has a base price of IDR 226.5 million (RM70,000), while the range-topping Prestige CVT retails for IDR 261.5 million (RM80,000).
Malaysians can look forward to the new Honda BR-V, which will debut locally in the coming months.
PS: Thanks Howie for sending these in!
