Set to be a segment changer, the next generation BMW 7 Series, codenamed G11, has been officially teased by BMW. According to them, June 10 is the date of the official unveiling of the new BMW 7 Series.
The new BMW 7 Series is no stranger to us, as we have posted spyshots of it before. The new 7 will be even lighter compared to its predecessors, shaving off up to 130 kilograms. The loss is weight is credited to BMW’s extensive usage of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic in the G11 dubbed CarbonCore.
Apart from the weight loss program, the new BMW 7 Series will also feature BMW Laserlight, which made its debut on the BMW i8. According to BMW, the Laserlight features a “luminous intensity that is ten times greater than conventional light sources such as halogen, xenon or LED.” These Laserlight from BMW is also very energy efficient, and boasts a power consumption that is 30% less than LED lighting.
These aside, the new G11 will pack numerous other technology and features which will set it apart from its competitors. Stay tuned for its official unveiling next week.
