UMW Toyota Motor has officially pull the wraps off the all-new 2016 Toyota Hilux. The company begun taking orders for the new Hilux early last month.
A total six different variants of the Toyota Hilux are available, ranging from the base Hilux 2.4 MT Single Cab 4×4, Hilux 2.4 Standard MT Double Cab 4×4, Hilux 2.4 MT Double Cab 4×2, Hilux 2.4G MT Double Cab 4×4, Hilux 2.4G AT Double Cab 4×4 and the range-topping Hilux 2.8G AT Double Cab 4×4.
The entry-level Hilux is the 2.4 MT 4×4 Single Cab. The base model utilizes a 2,393 cc 2GD-FTV diesel mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This new engine boasts 150 hp at 3,400 rpm and the maximum torque of 400 Nm is available from 1,600 rpm till 2,000 rpm. The base model has a price tag of RM89,900 OTR with GST and insurance.
The base model Toyota Hilux gets halogen multi-reflector with auto On/Off and bulb daytime running lights (DRL), black radiator grille, black manual adjustable wing mirrors, 205R16C steel wheels all round, optional bedliner, optional Toyota window tint, 2-DIN head unit CD player with tuner, MP3, AUX-in and USB, 4-spoke urethane steering wheel with tilt & telescopic adjustment, black PVC seats, 4-way manual adjustable driver seat, electric 4WD Transfer Switch, rear differential lock, 3 SRS airbags, ABS, EBD and alarm system with immobilizer.
One variant above the entry-level Hilux is the 2.4 Standard MT Double Cab 4×4. Like the entry-level variant, this one also features the same 2.4-litre 2GD diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This variant retails for RM99,900, OTR with GST and insurance.
The double cab variant of the base Hilux has the same features as the single cab, but adds black manual adjustable wing mirrors with turn signal lamp, 265/65R17 steel wheels with plastic covers, bedline and fabric seats.
The sole 4×2 variant of the new Hilux that UMW offers is the Toyota Hilux 2.4 MT Double Cab 4×2. This variant is slotted below the double cab variant, priced at RM91,900.
The 4×2 double cab variant adds these features over the 2.4 Standard MT Double Cab 4×4, including black, power adjustable wing mirrors with turn signal lamp, powered windows with driver side auto up and down, without 4WD transfer switch and without rear differential lock.
Moving another level up the Toyota Hilux lineup is the Hilux 2.4G MT Double Cab 4×4. This variant also features the same 2.4-litre 2GD diesel engine, mated to the same six-speed manual transmission. This variant has an estimated retail price of RM109,900, OTR with GST and insurance.
The Hilux 2.4G gains chrome radiator grille, chrome power adjustable & retractable wing mirrors with turn signal lamp, front fog lights, 265/65/R17 alloy wheels, bedliner, Multi-information display (MID) without Optitron meters, Smart Entry & Start System, 2-DIN head unit with 6.1-inch touch screen, tuner, MP3, AUX-in, USB, SD Card, Bluetooth & Reverse camera, 4-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with silver trim with audio, MID and Bluetooth handsfree controls, Drive Mode Switch with selectable modes (Normal, Eco, Power mode), 6-way manual adjustable driver seat, Power windows with auto up and down plus jam protection for all windows, Electronic 4WD Transfer Switch, rear differential lock, 3 airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse sensor, alarm system with immobilizer, siren with backup battery, cabin sensor, double door lock and speed auto door lock.
The last 2.4-litre variant is the Hilux 2.4G AT Double Cab 4×4. This model features a new six-speed automatic that drives all four wheels. The automatic Hilux 2.4G has a price of RM121,900.
This variant adds these features on top of the 2.4G manual including Toyota Premium Security & Solar Film, black leather upholstery, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC).
Sitting right on top is the Hilux 2.8G AT Double Cab 4×4. This variant uses a 2.8-litre 1GB-FTV diesel engine that produces 177 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and the peak torque of 450 Nm is available from 1,600 rpm till 2,400 rpm. This model will retails for RM133,900, OTR with insurance and GST.
The Hilux 2.8G gets all the bells and whistles, which includes LED projector headlights with auto on/off with LED daytime running lights, chrome power adjustable and retractable wing mirrors with turn signal lamp, front fog lights, 265/60R18 alloy wheels, bedliner, Toyota Premium Security & Solar Tint, Optitron meter with illumination control, 4.2-inch colour TFT multi-information display (MID), Smart Entry & Start System, 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with tuner, MP3, Aux-in, USB, SD Card & Bluetooth, reverse camera & sensor, 4-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel with silver trim, Audio, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, Drive Mode Switch with selectable Normal, Eco and Power modes, black leather upholstery, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, all round power window with auto up/down plus jam protection for all windows, electric 4WD transfer switch, Active Traction Control (A-TRC), rear differential lock, 7 SRS airbags, ABS, EBD, VSC, HAC, and alarm system with immobilizer, siren with backup battery, cabin sensor, double door lock and speed auto door lock.
Buyers can choose from six different metallic colours for their new Hilux, including Silver Metallic, Medium Silver Metallic, Attitude Black, Grey Metallic, Crimson Spark Red Metallic and Avant-garde Bronze Metallic. The sole non-metallic colour choice is Super White II. The single cab variant is only available in Solid White.
