The first step Audi took when developing the new A4 was improving the aerodynamics. As a result, the new Audi A4 can now boast the best drag coefficient (Cd) in its class, at 0.23. As mentioned earlier, the CO2 emissions too have been lowered, with the A4 Sedan 2.0 TDI ultra releasing 95 grams per kilometer, while the 2.0 TFSI with 190 horsepower emits 109 g/km. Depending on engine, some variants of the 2016 Audi A4 is up to 120 kilograms lighter.

Audi has dropped their multitronic transmission in favour of their latest seven speed S-tronic dual clutch unit. All variants, excluding the 3.0 TDI variant will be getting the new S-tronic transmission. The diesel variant will get a revised eight speed S-tronic. Audi will also be offering a new manual transmission for the A4, which won’t be available here. Like before, unless specified with the Quattro option, the Audi A4 will come standard with front wheel drive.
As for the Audi A4 Avant, Audi has claimed that it offers the largest boot space in its class, with a total of 505 litres with the rear seats up. With the rear seats folded down, that number increases to 1,510 litres. Buyers of the wagon variant will benefit from the electric luggage-space cover and electric tail gate, which comes as standard equipment. Audi says that buyers can choose to have a gesture control for the rear tail gate, which according to Audi, is “a proximity sensor in the rear bumper reacts to a kick motion so that the trunk lid or tailgate unlocks and opens automatically when the key is recognized.”
