Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has just pulled the wraps off the brand-new Yamaha XV950R Bolt, which is a 4-stroke 942 cc V-twin bike.
“The launch of the XV950R BOLT marks our fourth major model in our product line-up to complement our current models of XJ6, MT07 and MT-09. The new XV950R Bolt is a bobber that encapsulates the character and personality of those original back street creations in a new neo retro Japanese look with a sharp edge. With this model, the door to the world of customisation is wide open to every rider,” said Dato’ Jim Khor, Managing Director of Hong Leong Yamaha Motor.
“For the first 6 months of 2015, the sale of big bike TIV (cc >250 cc) declined slightly by 3.5% to 6,953 units as compared to the same period last year at 7,205 units. This decline in big bike TIV in our view is likely to persist over the next 6 to 12 months,” he added.
As mentioned earlier, the Yamaha XV950R Bolt is powered by a 4-stroke, air-cooled, four valve 942 cc V-twin engine whihc pushes out 52 hp at 5,500 rpm and 79.5 Nm at 3,000 rpm. The Bolt uses a wet sump lubrication system, and features a revised intake system.
Holding the bike together is a double cradle frame, which features pair of 41 mm telescopic forks front suspension and a swingarm rear suspension. Stopping power is courtesy of a hydraulic single disc up front and the rear, both featuring a diameter of 298 mm.
The new Yamaha XV950R Bolt is brought in as a CBU and is priced at RM 52,500, The price is inclusive of 6% GST but excluding road tax, insurance and number plate. The new Bolt comes with ABS and is only available in Matt Grey color. CKD production is expected to start at the end of 2016.
