So the lead-up to the official launch of the all-new Proton PCC/GSC/Iriz has not been without its controversy, as we reported recently here that Proton’s new baby had not been tested by ANCAP yet, despite the companies’ claims to a 5-star rating, as reported in its micro-site that teased images of the new PCC.

During the course of the presentation at the media preview, when safety aspects of the new PCC were displayed, both ANCAP and Asean NCAP logos were shown, with a 5-star rating on both, in regards to the PCC. Following an unrelated ANCAP article, we were contacted by ANCAP to inform us that the PCC had actually not been tested yet, and at the time of writing remained ‘unrated’.

Following our article regarding this issue, Proton amended its micro-site, and today AF received this official statement from Proton’s head of communications:

It appears that the PCC is indeed as yet ‘unrated’ with ANCAP, but Proton is very confident of its procurement of a 5-star rating. AF would like to thank Proton for clarifying this matter for us and our readers, and for being so forthcoming on the error / oversight.
